Hand Signals
- 1/4
Extending the right arm straight out to the side is a clear and commonly understood hand signal indicating the driver’s intention to make a right turn or to move towards the right side of the road.

Extending the left arm straight out to the side is the standard hand signal used by cyclists to indicate their intention to turn left or move out to the left side of the road.

Extending the arm out of the window and moving it up and down is a traditional hand signal used by car drivers to communicate their intention to reduce speed or slow down. Other road users observing this signal should be prepared for the vehicle ahead to decelerate.

Raising the left arm vertically with the palm facing forward is a standard hand signal used by motorcyclists and cyclists to indicate their intention to stop. Drivers behind them should prepare to slow down and stop as well.
